Pendleton® Journey West Blanket

Pendleton® Journey West Blanket

New Arrival

Pendleton ® Jacquard Blanket, Journey West Blanket

This intricate design honors the pioneering spirit of the Pendleton® founder, weaver Thomas L. Kay. In 1863, Thomas L. Kay voyaged from England to America and arrived in Oregon. This blanket design is a homage to the generations of weavers that have continued his legacy of quality and excellence. Recently, Kay's original blanket was discovered in a 19th-century European mill. The blanket included the designer's notes and calculations, handwritten neatly along the sides. The blanket designers at Pendleton® observed this historic work of early textile design with reverence. It became and inspiration for Pendleton's® Journey West jacquard design. The pattern highlights the widespread appeal of geometric shapes and elements, images that can be seen in Native American arts and crafts, which were often used in early Pendleton Trade Blankets. The hooked designs that are inside the large diamonds are common symbols of luck and prosperity.
