Classic geometric shapes are displayed in this nine-element design blanket. The stripes, crosses, triangles and diamond designs are a very traditional motif in early Navajo Chief blankets. The cross figures symbolize the four directions and wholeness in the universe. Arrows signify movement, power and the life force. Like most Native patterns the design continues through the edges of the blanket in the belief that this would prevent evil spirits from being trapped within. The aqua and brown color combination are a striking contrast. Long coat is reversible, front pockets, brushed metal antique style buttons, hooded.
