Iroquois Turtle Heritage Blanket

Centerpoint pattern, this reversible wool car length coat is made with fabric by Pendleton® in the Iroquois Turtle Heritage pattern.The Iroquois Turtle Blanket has been re-designed in different colors, paying tribut to the Iroquois Confederacy.  The turtle pattern was inspired by an Iroquois legend. The legend stated that long ago, the earth was covered by water and there were no people living at the time. Storytellers pass on, that the birds spotted Skywoman falling from the sky. As she fell to earth, she grabbed a tree from heaven. The birds spread their wings to try to save her fall. Only the turtle was strong enough to hold her, the placed her on the turtle's back. She planted the tree's roots and the tree began to grow again, as the turtle grew in size becoming an islang, then finally North America known s Turtle Island.
Front slit pockets, collar, and silver concho style buttons also reverse for a completely different look.
